Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,
It is time to take control of our own destiny. We must began to make realistic sacrifices independent of money allocated by the public sector and private charter school funders who have the power to reject or accept our proposals. Marva Collins a pioneer in education, recognized locally, here in Chicago , nationally and internationally showed us the way. As you know we, the C.A.U.S.E. Chicago Alliance of Urban School Educators and Teach 4 The Future INC. have spent several years writing grants to secure funds for our educational programs. After several years we received funding and it was taken away by the newly elected Governor Rauner. We are now left with hundreds of highly qualified African American experienced educators that have been displaced and replaced by young White inexperienced interns in our schools. We have decided that our destiny cannot depend on the benevolence of other to invest our tax dollars with equity. It appears that that will never be the case.
With that in mind, we will be meeting this Thursday August 20, 2015 @ 1809 East 71st @ 4:00 to discuss the creation of our own academic institutions. We will be looking at the possibility of purchasing our own school. WE need parents, teachers, students and administrators to join us. If you are a Displaced teachers and want to do more than retire, let's create our own schools for our children.
Sincerely,
Rosita Chatonda

Call Governor Rauner's office about cuts to our T4SS Program

Please make calls to the Governors Governor Bruce Rauner's office regarding cuts to programs.
Dear Governor Rauner, Script
Hello, my name is _____________________
Our program Teach For South Shore( T4SS) contracted under the Black United Fund of Illinois was funded under the anti- violence education initiative under former Governor Quinn. On January 29, 2015 we received an email at 3:59 p.m. to cease operations due to budget cuts under the new Rauner administration. Although we are not the only program cut that provides social services so vitally needed in our communities, our program provides a unique opportunity to address improvement in academic achievement for our students in South Shore grades K-3. We desperately need to maintain and create additional programs that serve the needs of our children.
Teach For South Shore, (T4SS) is a program desperately needed to repair the infrastructure of our elementary schools in our community. This program brings experienced certified teachers back into the classroom to aide students who are most at risk for academic failure. We know that you have indicated that you will fund initiatives for K-12 education initiatives. Our goal is to provide academic support while developing social emotional competency. We believe that increases in social emotional growth leads to achievement in academic performance. We are asking that funding be restored immediately so that our program can convene.
Thank You ,
